Information on Club Stands
|
Traders and Clubs, please
note... access to the exhibition hall will not be possible until 6pm on the
Friday evening. Please respect this rule, as we need time and space to
do some essential setting-up first. |
Caving Club stands and poster displays form a key part of the trade and
exhibition area. We offer a prize for the best caving club stand at the
conference. In recent years this has been tackled enthusiastically and
imaginatively by rival caving clubs. Why not use your club stand to
- sell journals & advertise your club hut
- raise funds by selling T-shirts
- let cavers know what your club has been doing
- encourage cavers in your area to join your club
Club Stands
This year, there will be a limited number of free pitches available to
caving clubs that book their stand in advance. The conditions are...
- Free Club Stands must be booked at least two weeks in advance
- Available to bona-fide caving clubs and BCRA Special Interest Groups
only
- No display boards are provided
- You only get one pitch free of charge. Additional tables must be paid
for.
- You must pay for a power feed. Power is for low-wattage devices only - not
electric kettles! For safety reasons you will not be allowed to run your own
mains cables from a nearby outlet.
- Only a limited number of free stands are available - book early.
Caving clubs that book stands should ask for a free listing in the
conference programme - so if you have accommodation to advertise or journals to
sell, please contact us as soon as possible.
Poster Displays
Clubs and individual may display their 'science' posters free of charge. The
science theme will be broadly interpreted to fit in with BCRA's objects - so
cave science, technology and exploration are all acceptable topics. Other
posters will be charged at the appropriate rate (i.e. club or traders
free-standing display). Details follow...
- Science Posters should be exactly A0 portrait in size (1.19m high by 0.84m
wide). They should be mounted on stout board suitable for hanging from their
top edge. Paper or recently unrolled plastic-encapsulated posters might not
work! You may display a smaller poster provided that it is mounted on a
suitable A0 backing.
- Science Poster space should be booked in advance. Space is limited; if you
do not reserve space we cannot guarantee to display your poster.
- You may submit more than one poster (within reason) but, if space is
limited, the first poster from each contributor will get priority.
- Please contact the conference manager if you have any queries.
Further Information
When you are booking your club stand or display, please note the following
points.
- We cannot provide any display boards.
- The floor in the exhibition hall is often carpeted, and not designed to
support very heavy weights, so please bring suitable load protectors (e.g.
battens, 1" boards) if you have any heavy equipment.
- The number and location of mains power points is usually limited, so it is
essential that we know your exact requirements in advance, including the total
power (e.g. 2 x 150W) of equipment used. Any electrical equipment that is
deemed by the organisers to be unsafe will not be allowed.
